Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award

Salvatore has just returned from attending Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, where at the Spirited Awards Dinner he was named as this year’s recipient of ‘The Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award’ Held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, for more than 1,000 guests, the awards are a huge event.

The masters of ceremonies were Simon Ford and Tom Caltabiano – supported by Chuck Norris’s stunt double, to make sure that the acceptance speeches didn’t overrun!

Salvatore said ‘It is a very entertaining evening and a great pleasure to see so many of my friends receive awards. But the biggest surprise came when my friend Simon Difford of Class Magazine took the stage in his Pearly King outfit to announce this year’s recipient of the Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award: Salvatore Calabrese! What made it even more special is the wonderful introduction Simon gave me, which affectionately poked fun at how I like to name my bars and products after myself.’

Salvatore walked up to accept the award accompanied by the theme from The Pink Panther (it has been said that he looks like Peter Sellers!). Naturally delighted and surprised to be chosen, Salvatore joked that he hoped that this didn’t suggest that he was ready for retirement and went on to thank all his friends in the industry for recognising his achievements and how Tales of the Cocktail does an amazing job in promoting and encouraging high standards in the industry all over the world thanks to the hard work and dedication of ‘Mr and Mrs Cocktail’ Ann and Paul Tunnerman and their team.
