Tommy’s Margarita

Julio Bermejo, the owner of Tommy’s Bar in San Francisco, which opened in 1965, is the legendary tequila expert behind this modern classic. His version of the Margarita is notable for its use of agave nectar. ┬áJulio is the son of Tommy the bar’s original owner




Tommys Margarita


  • 50ml 100% Agave Reposado Tequila
  • 25ml fresh lime juice
  • 15ml agave syrup
  • Garnish with a wedge of lime
  • Coarse slat


To make a crusted rim of salt on your glass: rub a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass, then roll the rim in a saucer of course salt.

To make the drink: Combine the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime placed on the rim of the glass
